Controversial Nairobi-based preacher Prophet Victor Kanyari has once again found himself at the centre of public discussion after stepping in to support Marion Naipei, the woman whose humiliating video recently went viral on social media.
Prophet Kanyari recently invited Marion to his church for a special service, days after the clip sparked outrage across the country.
Marion made national headlines after a US-based Kenyan man identified as James Opande allegedly recorded her in a compromising state, exposing her nudity, before leaking the video online without restraint.

The disturbing footage quickly spread across various platforms, igniting mixed reactions from Kenyans.
A large section of netizens strongly condemned Opande’s actions, calling for his immediate arrest and prosecution, terming the incident a gross violation of privacy and dignity.
Others, however, took a different stance, defending Opande and arguing that Marion is an adult who appeared to have consented to the actions captured in the video.
As public pressure mounted, Marion received guidance from former Nairobi County Environment CEC Geoffrey Mosiria.
The two later reported the matter to the police, with Marion officially lodging a complaint against Opande following the intense public uproar.
Capitalising on the viral moment but also framing it as a spiritual intervention, Prophet Kanyari extended an invitation to Marion to attend a church service, saying his aim was to help restore her faith and pray for her during the difficult period.
Marion accepted the invitation and fellowshipped at the church, where she was received warmly by congregants.
After the service, the outspoken preacher went a step further and blessed Marion with Sh50,000, describing it as a token meant to console her for the emotional distress and public humiliation she had endured over the past few days.
Kanyari later shared photos of Marion inside his church on his Facebook page, with some images showing her holding a bundle of Sh1,000 notes.
Captioning the post, Kanyari wrote:
“When the world is against you, churches should be there for you, for we all know that Jesus came for the sinners… 50k for you
.”
The gesture quickly drew reactions online, with many netizens praising the pastor for stepping in to support Marion at her lowest moment.
Supporters lauded him for showing compassion and offering both spiritual and financial support, saying the church should always be a place of refuge.
Meanwhile, Marion has since confirmed that she reported Opande to the police, maintaining that the video caused her immense emotional harm.

Opande, on the other hand, issued a public apology to both Marion and Kenyans at large, expressing regret over the incident and stating that he was seeking an amicable resolution to the matter.
As investigations continue, the incident has reignited debate on consent, privacy, and accountability in the digital age, with many Kenyans calling for stricter measures against the non-consensual sharing of explicit content online.
