Tragedy as 15-year-old boy collapses and dies while playing at school field in Homa Bay

Police are investigating an incident where a 15-year-old boy collapsed and died while playing at a field in their school in Kosele, Homa Bay County.

The boy was a student at the Saye Mixed Secondary School in Rachuonyo Sub County.

He and other students were playing when he collapsed and died. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy following the January 23, 2026 incident.

Meanwhile, police in Kondele, Kisumu County are investigating an incident where a man was found dead with stab wounds.

The incident happened following a road rage at the local roundabout.

The assailant who was driving a salon car escaped the scene in the January 24, 2026 incident, police said.

The assailant is said to have argued with a rider in the area before he parked his car on the roadside and pursued him after getting a kitchen knife that he used in the mission, police said.

This was after the deceased punched the car’s trunk in the rage, which seemed to have angered the driver, witnesses told the police at the scene.

The deceased was stabbed in the stomach and died at the scene.

The body was removed to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

This was after the riders in the area tried to block the police from removing it and turned violent while demanding action on the assailant.

They briefly confronted the police in the process forcing the team to withdraw from the scene, witnesses said.

Police said on Sunday they were pursuing the said assailant for grilling and possible prosecution.

Police on Sunday appealed to the driver to surrender to the authorities for processing.
