Outrage After Fresh CCTV Footage Shows Police Allegedly Assaulting Youths in Kikuyu Pool Joint

Public anger has erupted online after a new CCTV video surfaced showing police officers allegedly assaulting young men inside a pool hall in Kikuyu.

The disturbing footage has sparked renewed debate about police conduct, with many Kenyans demanding accountability and justice.

The one-minute and 38-second CCTV clip, obtained by Newshub.co.ke, is timestamped Friday, January 23, at around 11:00 pm. It shows uniformed police officers entering a small recreational facility in Kikuyu late at night.

According to sources familiar with the area and the incident, the officers are believed to be attached to Nderi Police Post.

The video captures the inside of a compact room painted green, with a pool table at the center. At the beginning of the clip, two young men can be seen calmly playing a game of pool.

The atmosphere quickly changes when three police officers dressed in green uniforms walk into the room together, immediately drawing the attention of everyone present.

The officers position themselves strategically near the entrance and around the pool table, effectively controlling the space. They appear to question the young men while using hand gestures, giving instructions and closely monitoring their movements.

The civilians in the room are seen complying fully, standing close to the walls and doorways as ordered, without any visible resistance.

As the video progresses, the situation takes a violent turn. One officer is seen hitting one of the young men in the stomach using a club, while another officer repeatedly slaps him. At the same time, a third officer turns to the second young man and slaps him several times across the face.

Moments later, the two young men are handcuffed by the officers. As the clip nears its end, the policemen are seen gathering the pool balls from the table before escorting the handcuffed youths out of the facility. Outside, a packed police Land Cruiser is visible, into which the young men appear to be taken.

This latest incident comes barely two weeks after another shocking CCTV video from Nandi Hills went viral on social media, showing similar acts of alleged police brutality.

That earlier footage, which lasted about eight minutes, showed armed officers carrying guns and batons storming a pool hall and forcing at least 12 young men to lie flat on the floor.

Time stamps from the Nandi Hills video indicated that the incident took place on January 10, 2026. In the footage, officers could be heard aggressively demanding identification documents from the men inside the joint.

The situation reportedly escalated when one individual attempted to leave the premises, prompting officers to violently beat him with batons.

The Nandi Hills incident drew widespread condemnation from political leaders and members of the public.

Among those who spoke out were Nandi Hills Senator Samson Cherargei and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, both of whom called on Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to take immediate and decisive action against officers involved in the abuse.

As of the time of publication, the National Police Service (NPS) had not released any official statement addressing either the Kikuyu or Nandi Hills incidents.

Meanwhile, public pressure continues to grow, with many Kenyans demanding transparency, investigations, and reforms to curb police brutality across the country.
