Popular YouTuber and content creator Oga Obinna has come out strongly to advise fellow local celebrities on how to deal with mean and hurtful comments on social media.
Obinna said the days of keeping quiet while being attacked online should be over, urging public figures to stand up for themselves without fear.
While speaking during an Instagram rant on the evening of Friday, January 23, Obinna noted that celebrities are human beings with real feelings and emotions.
He said being famous does not mean one should accept abuse or disrespect in the name of public tolerance.
According to him, celebs are entitled to react in whatever way they feel is right, just like any other person.
The outspoken YouTuber insisted that celebrities have every right to clap back at critics without worrying about public uproar.
He argued that staying silent only empowers trolls and encourages more online bullying.
“Celebrities are human too. They feel pain, they get angry, and they have every right to respond when pushed,” Obinna said.
“Aura for aura. If someone comes for you badly, you don’t have to smile through it,” he added.
Obinna’s rant was sparked by the ongoing online battles involving gospel singer Guardian Angel’s wife, Esther Musila.
Musila has been known for boldly responding to critics and putting haters in their rightful place whenever they attack her online.
However, her attitude towards negative comments has often landed her in hot soup, with many trolls constantly dragging her over the age difference between her and her husband.
Rallying behind Musila, Obinna warned online critics to be careful, noting that their mean comments could easily land them in court.
Obinna, in his rant said freedom of speech does not give anyone the right to insult, abuse, or harass others online.
The YouTuber further reiterated that he will no longer deal with his critics lightly.
Obinna made it clear that going forward, he will either fight back online or seek legal action against those who cross the line.
His message was simple: respect goes both ways, whether someone is famous or not.
Obinna’s bold stand has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his views while others feel celebrities should still exercise restraint.
Still, his message has opened up a wider conversation on online bullying and accountability in the digital space.
